What if there was a way to improve your sense of calm, improve clarity, and get better sleep… without using habit-forming prescriptions, funky chemical concoctions, or other potentially “problematic” substances?
There is, and people are talking.
The proper use of essential oils can give you a safe and organic way to positively impact your limbic system, which that sorta important thing in your body that regulates the hormones responsible for your mood and overall sense of well being.
Essential oils can help you mitigate stress and feelings of anxiousness, promote more restful sleep and relaxation, and improve your focus and feelings of clarity.
How to Use Essential Oils to Beat Stress & Anxiousness
If you’ve been on the essential oils scene for any length of time, you probably already know what I’m going to say here: lavender.
Lavender is capable of helping in maintaining an already healthy heart rate. This is because of its soothing effects on the nervous system, which is quite a well researched topic.
Apply a small amount lavender topically using a rollerball bottle on the neck, or diffuse as usual. Set up your diffuser in your office to shoo away the Monday blues, or set it up wherever you like to relax after work to wash away the stress of the day.
Essential Oils for Focus & Clarity
At one time given more value than even gold, frankincense essential oil is well known for its ability to improve overall clarity and focus and reduce irritability. That’s a powerful combo when you have a deadline breathing down your neck.
Among the citrus oils, lemon essential oil has been shown time and time again to cause an “anti-stress” effect while improving focus. If you’ve ever taken a whiff of a fresh lemon, you know the feeling it gives you—diffusing this powerful oil can give you that feeling anytime you want it, no lemons necessary!
And don’t forget peppermint essential oil. In addition to improving physical capabilities, peppermint can improve memory retention and give you a refreshed, awake feeling. Especially nice if you have to be on the move and focused, making it the perfect way to use a portable diffuser.
Sleep Better With These Essential Oils
Poor sleep is one of the leading causes of the above two issues, stress and lack of focus. Getting a complete night’s worth of restful sleep has such a dramatically positive effect on our minds and bodies that we should welcome any natural way to help ourselves get it.
For many, the answer has been essential oils.
Diffusing essential oils like lavender, roman chamomile, and neroli—individually or in a mixture—can promote more restful sleep by reducing feeling anxious and maintaining an already healthy heart rate and blood pressure. This isn’t just a placebo or “mildly relaxing,” research has shown that these essential oils can significantly improve quality of sleep.
Tools for the Job
Essential oils can get a little unwieldy if you only have them in their individual bottles, perhaps rolling around in a drawer somewhere.
Sound familiar?
If so, it’s time to get organized!
Regular readers beware: I know I say this over and over, but it can’t be stressed enough. If you have the right tools for usage and organization, you’re more likely to use your oils. If you’re more likely to use your oils, you’ll be happier. After all, that’s the point of this post!
While essential oils have a variety of different ways to be used, the two most common ways are through diffusing or topical application (but be sure that you know which ones are safe for your skin before doing the latter).
The easiest possible way to topically apply an essential oil is with a roller bottle. Check out our glass roller bottles—they’re dirt cheap, functional, and the cobalt blue coloring is actually really pretty. Transfer your standalone oil or pre-mixed recipes and you’re good to go. And if you’re on the go a lot, you might want to grab our hard shell roller bottle carrying case, which includes six roll on bottles.
Many of the recipes we discussed above are intended to be diffused. If you’re new to the world of diffusing, the 50ml Hero is an awesome “starter” unit, perfect for your desk or next to your favorite comfy chair. If you’ve been oiling for a while and it’s time for an upgrade, our huge-capacity 300ml diffuser offers up to 13 hours of diffusing goodness. I also think the wood grain finish also looks pretty sharp!
