It’s That Season Again… Support Your Immune System With These Essential Oils

It’s That Season Again… Support Your Immune System With These Essential Oils

Are you as paranoid as I am to touch public doorknobs this time of year?

Are you constantly reminding your kids to wash their hands?

Same here. It’s that season again, and according to experts, it’s already one heck of a doozy…

Essential oils should be at the forefront of your family’s defenses this season. The smart way to maintain your health is to boost your immune system so you don’t start feeling unwell in the first place.

As the old saying goes, “prevention is the best cure.”

In this post, we’re going to be exploring a handful of must-have essential oils for your collection. Remember, keep your oils organized—that way when you need them, you’ll be able to find them easily at a moment’s notice… which is probably going to be pretty important this year to put it mildly.

If you’re a regular reader, you already know how much we love lavender essential oil here at Aroma Outfitters. Among many, many other benefits, this is among the most powerful immune-boosting essential oils you can have.

I’ve already written a lot about lavender oil and why any serious essential “oil-er” needs to have a supply, so I won’t go into great detail in this post. If you haven’t already, check out my super-detailed post, Everything You Need to Know About Lavender Essential Oil Benefits & Uses.

Frankincense Essential Oil, The All-Natural Fighter

Frankincense has long been known to be a remarkable health-maintainer. It’s a powerful way to maintain the wellness of your respiratory system, which is doubly important to keep going strong when trying to fight off seasonal bugs.

Furthermore, frankincense essential oil reduces anxious feelings and can eliminate irritability—important if you’re already feeling a bit under the weather and you’re worried about not being up to the task of day-to-day life. You’ll get through it!

Roman Chamomile Essential Oil, The Tension Melter

Chamomile is a calming essential oil that also acts as a way to support a healthy immune system. Add a drop to a glass of your favorite hot tea or diffuse the oil in your bedroom before you go to sleep.

Additionally, have you ever noticed how your joints can ache when you’re feeling unwell? In addition to supporting cartilage and joint function, chamomile essential oil can reduce the tension associated with head and neck discomfort as well as sore muscles. Topical application is perfect for this gentle essential oil: put a few drops on the back of your neck, rub them in, and apply a warm compress.

Peppermint & Eucalyptus Oil, The Sinus Cleansing Superstars

Peppermint and eucalyptus essential oils are both fantastic ways to boost the function of your respiratory system. A household favorite for us, these oils not only support your immune system, they smell lovely.

If you’re already feeling under the weather, either of these oils will help you breathe easier. They’re perfect for diffusion, but you can also use them topically. If you dilute them with a carrier oil such as jojoba oil, you can even make a quick decongestant rub which you can apply directly to your chest.

seasonal essential oils for maintaining wellnessWhat’s the Best Way to Use These Essential Oils?

While it’s possible to simply inhale directly from the bottle, it’s not the most effective or graceful way to put your essential oils to work. In a pinch, topical application of skin-safe essential oils (like chamomile mentioned above, for example) will also work. Gently rub a drop or two in behind your neck and near your temples.

The most convenient way to enjoy the benefits of the essential oils discussed here today—among many other oils, of course—is to use a sonic diffuser. Not only will your body be able to easily receive the benefits of the essential oils you’re using, the room you’re diffusing in will be cleansed and purified.

An affordable and high quality “starter” unit to consider is our 100ml Arise essential oil diffuser. It’s quiet, runs for 3-4 hours at a time, and works wonders in smaller bedrooms.

If you’re looking for an upgrade or want to diffuse in a larger room, reviewers have had nothing but good things to say about our 200ml variable speed diffuser, which performs well in areas up to 500 square feet.
